Why have BOTOX® at a Dental office?

With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time, there are many reasons why BOTOX® Cosmetic has been chosen by millions.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines in the forehead, between the brows, and crow’s feet lines in adults.

Derived from sources that exist in nature, BOTOX® Cosmetic contains tiny amounts of a highly purified botulinum toxin protein refined from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum. Formulations, potency, and approved doses vary among botulinum toxin products, which means that one product cannot take the place of another. Those are a few reasons why there is no such thing as a “generic” form of BOTOX® Cosmetic. There have been no studies to support that other products are Unit-to-Unit equivalent to BOTOX® Cosmetic which is why we use ONLY the name brand proven product with no off-brand cosmetic products.

How does BOTOX work?

Injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic into the muscles that cause lines temporarily reduces the activity of those muscles. The result is a reduction in the appearance of those lines.  BOTOX® Cosmetic targets the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Dr. Bindi will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity so you will begin to notice a visible smoothing.

Long-Lasting
Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months.  Your own results may vary.

It’s a simple, nonsurgical, 10-minute procedure with NO DOWNTIME. Called a “lunchtime procedure”, treatment REQUIRES NO ANESTHETIC and NO RECOVERY.  Botox can easily be included in your routine dental visits (in fact, you will receive a $1/unit discount when booking your Botox procedure(s) in conjunction with your dental re-care appointments).

Treatment Areas

Here you will find common areas treated by Botox. Treatment is completely personalized to your face and muscles, and of course, dependent on what kind of results you are looking for!

Why choose a DENTIST to do your Botox treatment??

Dr. Bindi and her team were trained by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. Dr. Bindi has also been trained in Cosmetic Dentistry which takes already takes into account symmetry and facial esthetics , so this is a natural fit for her. Dentists are also extremely comfortable with injections, as they give the MOST injections every single day more than ANY other healthcare provider out there. Dentists also were trained solely in head and neck anatomy.

As a dental professional, Dr. Bindi also specializes in aspects of Botox treatment that may be foreign to other practitioners (including the treatment of “gummy smiles” and bruxism), since our team takes great consideration in how the teeth and smile relate to the surrounding facial tissues for an overall facial esthetic and comfort.

The treatment of a “gummy smile” usually requires around 4 units of Botox.

Bruxism is the clenching or grinding of the teeth which can cause all sorts of problems including worn/broken/fractured teeth, chronic head/neck aches, strained vision, ear pain, tempromandibular joint pain/clicking, and enlarged/squared jawline.  Botox injections into the muscles responsible for bruxism relaxes these areas resulting in a diminished force of these muscles and the betterment of observed symptoms as a result.

The treatment of bruxism using Botox takes about 10 units per trigger area (so around 20 units total since a muscle cannot be treated unilaterally).

Potential Risks

While side effects are very uncommon, they may include headache, flu-like symptoms, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Dr. Bindi ONLY  uses only FDA-approved Botox® Cosmetic brand which is manufactured by Allergan and is the leading brand on the market.

Cost

At Pearly Dental, we only offer the real Botox—no brand substitutions—for $12/unit. This is an EXTREMELY good price for the real name brand product, and a Doctor with extensive injecting experience and knowledge of anatomy treating you! Save even MORE money and get your Botox for $11/unit when it’s done at your regularly scheduled dental cleaning appointment.  We know that off brands may be done at a lower unit price, but we also know that only the name brand Botox is #1 in the market, and has the highest efficacy and longevity. This means that we can administer LESS units and your results will last longer.

Juvederm Dermal Fillers

How does JUVÉDERM® Work?

Young, and healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA).  As you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.  Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM® is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

Experiencing Rejuvenation

JUVÉDERM® dermal filler is a nonsurgical treatment for folds in the skin.  Using a fine needle, JUVÉDERM is placed under the skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermis. This adds volume and diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and folds instantly.

While there are a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, our office uses Allergan brand dermal fillers exclusively since they offer a variety of formulations to suit nearly every treatment area.

How Long Does It Last?

Fillers do require some maintenance.  How long your filler will last is dependent on a number of factors including the area treated and the specific type of filler used.

Safety Considerations

With any cosmetic treatment, safety is the first concern. As always, it’s important to consult with your doctor before deciding on a wrinkle treatment. Because JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is a non-surgical, in-office treatment, most patients experience minimal recovery and downtime.

JUVÉDERM® Side Effects

JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is generally well tolerated. Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are generally biocompatible, which means allergy skin testing is not required prior to treatment.

Allergies

If you’re considering treatment with JUVÉDERM® , your healthcare professional should ask about your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. JUVÉDERM® injectable gel for facial wrinkles and folds should not be used in patients who have:

  • Severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies
  • A history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins
  • JUVÉDERM® should not be used in patients with a history of allergies to lidocaine.

Other Considerations

  • Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. You should inform your healthcare professional before treatment if you are using these types of substances.
  • If laser treatment, chemical peeling, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with JUVÉDERM® injectable gel, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
  • JUVÉDERM® injectable gel should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy, or therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response, as there may be an increased risk of infection.
  • The safety of JUVÉDERM® injectable gel for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females, or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
  • The safety of JUVÉDERM® injectable gel hyaluronic acid dermal filler in patients with a history of excessive scarring (eg, hypertrophic scarring and keloid formations) and pigmentation disorders has not been studied.

JUVÉDERM® injectable gel for the treatment of areas other than facial lines and facial folds (such as lips) have not been established in controlled clinical studies.
